ACOUSTIC REMNANTS PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The item you are bidding on is our 2nd-quality, remnant acoustic foam. These tiles are labeled as defective and may have tears, holes, foam crust, or other defects. While these acoustic tiles may be somewhat lacking in appearance, they still have the same acoustic dampening ability as our standard foam products and will help you get clear, crisp sound. Great for sound treatment on a budget. More sizes are available as well, ask for details. INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION... This is a single-number rating system used to compare the sound-absorbing characteristics of soundproofing materials. PYRAMID FOAM Pyramid Foam performance is about 25% LESS than Wedge Foam, as it has less foam mass. WARNING! Some eBay sellers are marketing mattress and packaging foam as acoustic treatment foam - it's a cheap imitation and doesn't work as well! Always look for NRC Ratings! If a foam isn't a rated acoustical foam, its sound absorption capabilities are far less than what is expected and needed, as acoustic foam is specially-engineered to offer sound-reducing performance. Do the colors fade? Are they painted on? All of our foam colors have a strong resistance to fading. Darker colors are more resistant to fading than lighter colors. The coloring of our acoustic foam is added during the material's formulation, so it is the actual color of the foam, consistent through its entire form, and not a sprayed-on dye. Do you offer quantity discounts? Absolutely! You can purchase as many specials as you want, all at the same low price! If your purchase is over $200.00, please contact us for more discounts! Why are your prices so low? How do you manufacture your foam? Between our buying power, machining capabilities, and warehouse space, we are able to purchase massive, industrial-size blocks of foam called "buns" and cut them down into products at our location. There is no middle man, as we cut and sell our own products. This gives you factory-direct pricing, unlike the marked-up rates you're used to seeing elsewhere online and in stores. Is this foam's fire retardant specification sufficient for my application? Because local building and fire codes vary from region to region, we are unable to answer this question. Always check with local regulation authorities before installing materials in residential or commercial structures. How does California TB117 flame retardancy compare to UL94HF1 or MVSS302? California TB117 is actually a more stringent assessment than UL94HF1 or MVSS302. In addition to the Cal TB117 test, our acoustical foam has also been tested by the ASTM E 84 standard. Test results show that our acoustical foam meets Class A criteria. ASTM E 84 is the technical equivalent of NFPA No. 255 and UL No. 723. How do I install the foam? We suggest spray adhesive for most mounting applications (available from us for purchase). When using spray adhesive to form a temporary bond, apply a light amount of adhesive on just the foam. For more permanent bonds, apply the adhesive liberally to both the back of the foam and the mounting surface. For either method, allow the adhesive to become tacky before applying the foam to the mounting surface. If you need to cut or trim the foam, you may use an electric knife, or a sharp serrated blade using a slow, back-and-forth cutting motion. IMPORTANT: Spray adhesive is ineffective at bonding acoustic foam to painted or bare concrete or cinderblock walls. For permanently adhering acoustic foam directly to these surfaces, heavy-duty construction adhesive is suggested. Note that this will damage the foam and leave residue on the wall if removed. For non-permanent installation, we suggest mounting the foam to a substrate, such as plywood or sturdy cardboard, and hanging the mounted tile(s). Our spray adhesives may be used to form the foam-to-substrate bond. What should I get? 1" Wedge Foam: Suggested for high-frequency ranges and reflection points. 2" Wedge Foam: Suggested for most applications, and most small to medium-size rooms. 2" Wedge is very effective against standing waves and flutter echoes. 3" Wedge Foam: Suggested for balanced frequency treatment in any size area. 4" Wedge Foam: The most effective and absorbent style, 4" Wedge is great for medium to large areas or spaces where maximum absorption is necessary. Corner Bass Absorbers: Suggested for rooms with low-frequency/bass issues, they are stackable and can be placed in any wall/ceiling/floor joint. Eggcrate Foam: The most cost-effective sound treatment solution, this foam is suggested as an alternative to the 1" and 2" Wedge Foam because of its affordability, coupled with its sound absorption qualities. Do note that due to the manufacturing process, the edge pattern will not be uniform on every piece, making consistent patterns unlikely when installing eggcrate foam side-by-side.
